Authors at Large’s (AAL) six-night writing retreat in Hua Hin, Thailand will be led by co-founder Xu Xi.  She will be joined by two award-winning authors — the Thai-American nonfiction/ fiction writer & poet  Ira Sukrungruang and the New York genre fiction editor & mystery writer Chantelle Aimée Osman.  Hua Hin is located on Thailand’s southern coast and is where Thai Royalty summers.  It is close to many interesting cultural and natural sights, including waterfalls, temples and vineyards.  We are hosting the retreat once again at Ba’an Thai Private Villas.

Retreat Schedule

The retreat begins upon arrival on Thursday evening May 31 with a welcome reception and dinner at the Ba’an Thai Cafe.  Mornings are reserved for private writing time.  Workshops occur each afternoon from 2 to 5:30 pm where 2 to 3 manuscripts may be discussed.  In the evenings we gather for informal salons where participants are encouraged (but are certainly not required) to give readings of their works.  The authors will lead sessions on writing craft and engage in conversations about publishing and the writing life.

The Writing Workshop

AAL will offer three workshops at this retreat - in NON FICTION (memoirs, essays) with Ira Sukrungruang, FICTION (novels, short stories) with Xu Xi & GENRE FICTION (sci fi, fantasy, mystery) with Chantelle Aimée Osman.  All workshops will require a manuscript submission.

Room rates include a daily buffet breakfast and both the welcome and farewell dinners, served at the Ba’an Thai Cafe at the entrance to the private soi.
